President's Report

As everyone already knows, this year's convention in New Orleans was canceled due to the pandemic. We have not heard about any attempts to reschedule with the city. ASPE will be producing a digital convention to provide a similar experience to show floor. The 2020 ASPE Digital Experience, to be held on December 1–3, will offer interactive education, a dynamic exhibitor showcase, and unique connection opportunities for plumbing industry professionals. You will be able to find the people, products, companies, and innovations you need to grow your business from the comfort of your home or office. Register now at expo.aspe.org. There will be over 20 interesting technical sessions and education programs. There will also be an expo hall to chat directly with exibitors.

On November 14 at 10 a.m. CST, Michael Danielson, CPD, GPD, and Donald Taylor, CPD, GPD, will lead a short course on basic plumbing calculations such as the Spitzglass, Weymouth, and Manning formulas, fixture outlet flow, hot and cold water mixing, and more. The class awards 0.15 CEUs and is limited to 25 people, and registration is open at ASPE Education.During this course, the instructors will review how and where to use these calculations during plumbing design and work through examples of each system discussed. The systems will include sump pumps, natural gas, storm drainage, domestic water booster pumps, hot and cold water mixing, and stacks.Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Navigate the basic algebra needed to work through the design of plumbing systems.
  • Better understand how to manipulate these basic algebra formulas to help your design be the most efficient and cost-effective system possible.

The cost for this class is $70 for ASPE members and $130 for nonmembers.

The Women of ASPE (WOA) Committee has an opening for a Liaison to Region 3. Any female WOA member in Region 3 who is interested in serving on the national WOA Committee is invited to apply here. Please select WOA from the dropdown box and include "Region 3 Liaison" somewhere on the application.

This is our first attempt at using the new website for the ASPE NOLA Newsletter distribution. Let us know what you think of the site. We hope to get a meeting together soon. Stay tuned for more details.
